See a lively Osaka sumo show, learn the rules, try a kimono haori, wrestle a rikishi, and add a Chanko nabe meal in Rinku Town.

“It was an amazing night! Wish I had raised my hand to experience wresting with one of them. Too full from the hotpot meal haha. (Will definitely watch on my next trip). Otherwise, overall was interestingly fun especially when they incorporated humour into it while diving into the dynamics of the sumo sport at the same time.”

2.Learning Zen of Japanese Calligraphy in kimono near Osaka Castle

★★★★★★★★★★4.5 · 53 reviews · from $43

Dress in kimono, learn Japanese shodo, write kanji, and take home photos and artwork in this small-group Osaka Castle experience.

“Really good experience. First you get changed into Kimono and choose your Japanese word. You are shown how it is drawn and given plenty of practice attempts with hands on tutoring. Finally you write your character onto a blank fan and an optional extra beautiful wall hanging (fee extra dollars but worth it but no pressure) The hosts are great, friendly with good English. They take plenty of photos throughout and email them to you with no extra charge. You are not rushed at all. Thoroughly recommend if you want to do something slightly different.”

“We had an amazing time with Meet Kimono- both the rental experience and the photography session were brilliant. You can really tell they do it with love. I had two young kids with me which took longer than expected but I did not feel rushed at all and was reassured everything is OK. My daughter was very happy with her outfits with matching accessories and the photos came out so beautifully. A must-do for families to take a piece of Osaka home with you- thanks again Meet Kimono and Vha the photographer! Sarah”
